They beat him. They deprived him. They ridiculed him. They broke his heart. But they couldn’t break his spirit.
Bluebird North Events presents a special 50th anniversary screening of Kes at Staveley Hall to celebrate the film’s release in 1969.
Taking place on Saturday 29th June, doors open at 7pm and the film begins at 8pm.
JUST ANNOUNCED: David Bradley, AKA Billy Casper, will be attending the event! There will be a brief Q&A before David introduces the film.
David has written a short piece entitled The Enigma of Kes, which you can read in full by clicking here.
“The story of Billy Casper is a simple one; a young boy from a working class background whose life prospects are minimal. A latch key kid, bullied at school, misunderstood and a loner as a consequence, who finds a kestrel chick and against the odds rears and trains her like a falconer.”
“So why not join me on June 29th at Staveley Hall for a 50th anniversary screening along with a Q & A.”
Following the film, why not purchase some special Kes merchandise?
